Chapter 220: Like a Light

I don’t know if it was the lingering cocktail of sedatives they pumped me up with, or my total and abject sorrow, but I fell right back into a deep, dark sleep.

The knife is back. It was in my other hand the whole time, but I was too stoned out of my gourd to notice. Or at least, that is the logic of my dreaming mind.

I take the blade in my good hand, resisting the temptation to drag it deep across my wrists. Instead I cut away the IV links.

I’m shaky, but I get to my feet.
