“How are we doing today, Ms. Jones?” asks my dour doctor.

“Why do doctors always ask that? ‘How are we doing?’ We doesn’t even come into consideration. I’m the one that’s “sick,” and you’re the one, presumably, that is healthy.”

“Ah. I see you’re back to your usual acerbic self. Perhaps it’s time we upped your dosage.”

“Perhaps it’s time you let me out of this room. You know, as a show of good faith.”

“As you’ve already pointed out, I’m the doctor, and you’re the patient. That means I make the decisions, and you do as I tell you.”
