Chapter 284: The Doctor Lies

“That’s funny,” says Ripley. “I was pretty sure things were gonna get better for me now that I’ve left those other bastards behind.”

The doctor responds, “Well, I’m not sure I like the implication that our particular aims here also put us in the category of bastards, but yes. I stand by my statement. The longer you live, the harder things get. You’ll have good days and bad days, just like the rest of us. But on the whole, life is more complicated as you age.”

“Is it worth it?”

The doctor pauses. The doctor lies.

“Yes. Yes, of course. Absolutely.”
